Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)
i'm sustainably sourced from microalgae
Brain DHA contains docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), sustainably sourced from microalgae Schizochytrium sp. from the oceans of Norway.
DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid that is an important component of the human brain, cerebral cortex, skin, and retina.
i'm good for
- supporting brain/central nervous system development and brain function in children.
- helping maintain healthy eye development, healthy vision development and supporting healthy eyesight/vision and eye function in children.
low Omega-3 intake by children
Despite the importance of Omega 3 fatty acids, many children do not get enough in their diet. Reasons for this include:
- Limited consumption of fatty fish which is one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids.
- Picky eaters refuse to eat foods that contain omega-3s.
- Consumption of processed foods which are high in omega-6 fatty acids and low in omega-3s, which can disrupt the balance of essential fatty acids in the body.
increase your child’s Omega-3 intake
- Encourage your child to eat fatty fish, such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel, at least twice a week.
- Fill the gaps with a supplement such as brain DHA that are specifically formulated for children and are made from sustainably source microalgae, (not contributing to over fishing).
- Limit processed food intake and instead focus on whole foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
